Hi guys,

to upgrade my 1380cc MG engine to fast road I am thinking to go for a 276 cam with a billet 1.5:1 high lift rocker assembly. Also considering a Duplex timing gear. Is this a good marriage?

Many thanks

You may want to try 1.3:1 rockers?

1:3:1 rockers are for the small bore engines such as the 998 and im not sure about the 1098 or 850 but im guessing its the same story, the 1:5:1 rockers are for the 1275 engine and above

as for if its a good marriage i have no idea but i would be tempted to go for a more beasty cam in a 1380 :)

Seems like the 1380s prefer the 286 cam over the 276+ 1.5 rollers combo.
I would ask someone who's built a 1380 for further opinions, many lads on here have one so hopefully someone will come and tell..

I don't think i want to go down the 286 road as the van will be used around town so I hope the 276 will be the one I will go for.

Yes that should be a good marriage.
The 1.3.1 is for small bore blocks really

You could consider the Morspeed Ph3. This is the same as the Newton Ph2.

Forget the silly 1.5 rockers - hardly any power gain, huge cost - and loss of low down torque. The 276 on it's own will be fine. There's no point revving a 1380 engine - the head can't flow enough air - so no point in a high revs cam like the 286 etc...
