I own a pretty tidy mini. But intend to keep it outside.

I literally want it to stay immaculate, so have been doing a number of things:

- Ensuring it is clean everywhere (in all nooks and crannies)
- Polishing it with Bilt Hamber Auto Balm anti corrosion sealant
- WD40ing the engine bay and hinges

I was thinking:

- Buying this to protect the areas around the rubbers, hinges and windows from corrosion where water ingress and stays there. I would have thought with time the areas around here will rust, as water just sits there most of the time.

What do you think?

Does anyone else own a tidy mini who keeps it outside all days of the year? Is it actually possible to keep your mini mint outdoors?

The whole idea of garaging kind of the takes away the point of owning a mini for me. I like looking at it, I also like others looking at it. Makes life more interesting ;)

I made sure mine was as clean as it could be, but after year outside and in the tough winter, there is only so much you can do before those nightmare rust bubbles appear.

My engine was clean, and even though I clean it as much as possible and give it a good wipe over, it just isn't enough.

I have used Dynax UC and S-50 for several years on a few classics and its brilliant stuff. There has been very little noticable change in my MGB since starting using Bilt-Hamber stuff. That said ANY car will deteriorate to some degree if stored outside all the time, all that any product can do is slow down the inevitable. A lot also depends on when you drive it. I keep a 1974 VW camper outside but don't drive it in winter when the salt is about and that makes a huge difference - but still not as good as the cosy garage the mini gets!

Mine stays outside all day every day, Just regular maintainence, waxoyling, rust prevention etc all help.
A car cover might also be a worthy investment.

i keep mine outside, i think not driving in the rain if you can help it is a good idea. and also just regularly checking for rust while its small enough to treat. apart from that there isnt much you can do.

Immaculate cars do not get driven, of any age or make, keeping a tidy mini but enjoying it is the way to go.
