Happy christmas one and all, except me, as my mini decided I wasn't to have a lovely mini Christmas, so I was in a little bit of traffic yesterday, the temperature gauge when to the top, just below the red, and never actually got into the red, and then it cleared, and it had a top end knock, so I thought I'd pull over and let it cool down, but that only got worse after that. I started it and was running on two. So spoke to my dad and he advised me to limp it home, which I did, and he got the head off for me this morning, and they say a picture paints a thousand words, so these must be three thousand words.

Ouch.
If the head owes you a lot of money you could try getting it welded back up, a normal tig welder wont do though, then have the surface reground afterwards.
If not then just bung another head on :)

If its just a bog standard 998 you can pick them up in vgc for £150

I'd be inclined to check my timing and coolant system too if you repair it, may prevent another problem arising ;)

It is or should I say, was, a bog standard 998 so fortunaly not much money lost. It has been losing water recently so I guess this would have been the problem! My friends got a engine which I can have as she is not pursuing her project

Will be bolting another engine in, after new year though >_<, going to tax the cortina so it's no rush, might get some work done to the other engine :)
