I started trying to dismantle my front suspension set up today to allow me to fit cambered bottom arms, and tie bars - but have come unstuck.

Having removed all necessary nuts, and the standard tie bar I simply cannot get the bottom arm off the lower bolt.

I'v tried compressing the damper to change the angle of the bolt with a jack - to no avail.

I'v also tried bashing the arm with a 'persuading device' - to no avail.

It has also been bathed in copious amounts of WD40.

I'm totally stumped. Am I doing something wrong or missing a trick somewhere??

If I understand correctly, I had a nightmare with mine too! the trouble is that the bushes have a metal sleeve inside which rusts to the pin!

How I got them out eventually was to move the arm with pin in situe, forwards, so that the threaded part would come out at an angle. with a bit of wigleing and tugging I managed to putt the pair out of the subframe.

So nearly a week has passed and i'm still stuck!

Here's a couple of pictures to show what i'm having problems with:

First of all - how do you remove the bar which holds the bottom arm in place? The bendy one

And then, neither bottom arm will shift off their pins. Both have been soaked in WD40 and bashed til I can bash them no more to try and get them to shift - all to no avail.

Any ideas about what im doing wrong or whether I need to disassemble the suspension set up further etc etc?

Desperate for ideas - or help if you fancy coming to South London for a few hours?

Bottom arm just needs a dam good smack at the right angle in my experience!

As for the bottom arm pin on the hub you need a ball joint splitter to properly separate them. Inexpensive and satisfying when you do it

So to get this straight - the pin in the first picture just needs bashing to get free and I need a splitter to remove the bottom arm in the second picture??

I usually use an angled prybar with a block of wood to press the lower arm bolt out. Just put the nut back on the end of the threads to protect them if you are going to reuse the bolt.
