Tracker is probably better.

An alarm will only alert you to a theft or break-in, a tracker will allow you to follow the vehicle and get it back.

Both are a good idea and if you have the money, i would recommend fitting both.

Couple of problems with the one you have linked to,

Firstly, because the tracker uses GPRS through the SIM card, you will have to pay by topping up the SIM.
This could be very expensive.

Secondly, if the SIM runs out of credit, tracking will be stopped until more money is put on the SIM.

Thirdly, the tracking software can only be installed on one computer, so if you change computer you will have to buy a new tracking system.

This one isn't too bad, its problems are only small.
I'm just making you aware before you rush into buying it.

Many people just use a cheap basic pay as you go mobile phone, hidden away in the car somewhere and connected to a charger that is wired to a permanent live feed. Should the car be stolen, then the phone (and therefore the car it's hidden in) can then be tracked for a couple of pounds using one of the many mobile phone locator websites on line. As the phones battery remains fully charged all the time, it will still emit a signal (and therefore be traceable) for a few days even if the vehicles battery is disconnected.

Pay as you go mobile numbers do need to have credit in order to work though and you also need to use them occasionally otherwise they will be disconnected by the network if they are not used for an extended time. Most people get around this by sending a text message from the phone on a set day each month. You can usually pick up a cheap mobile with £10 of credit included for around £20. It's not as good as a tracker but it's a pretty good alternative that costs very little.
