I was out on a random drive today, and ended up in Tamworth for some reason. Anyway, was driving down a street and noticed a slightly delapidated looking Metro GTa on an 'F' plate sat on someones driveway.

Being the nosey bugger I am, I knocked on the door and asked if it was for sale. Turns out its not really, but he's receptive to offers. So I offered £200 and he said yes! So now I've got to decide whether to buy it or not.

The engine is low milage (40 odd k I think), its had new discs and pads (vented type), the interior is mint, and the bodyshell is in really good nick. It has the really nice GTa alloys with 4 brand new tyres on. Engine bay is unmessed with, its just really tidy. Incidentally the car is red.

Should I get it?

Actually reading back over that I've just convinced myself. You'd pay £200 or more for the engine in some places, and being an 'F' plate its leaded therefore likely to have the bigger valved head fitted :D

Its got no tax or MOT, but getting it trailered isn't an issue.

Looks like I'll have myself a metro soon!!

Good find by the way. It does pay to be precocious afterall!

It's worth it as long as the engine is OK. It's basically an MG metro spec engine, which is worth the most to us Mini people....

Send the rest of it to the scrappy, i bought a 28,000 mile Metro yesterday, with 6 months MOT, and its now well and truly destroyed....

Makes you feel all the better for getting rid of one more poo metro...

Aye I know the spec of the engine, thats why I made an offer, I haven't heard it run but even if its knackered (which at 40000 miles I can't see it being) the car is still worth £200.

I know quite a few Metro fans out there who will give me good money for a GTa shell and interior, even if the running gear is stripped off it - so I should be able to get a good deal from the car.

And Miniman, yeah I used to live in Tamworth, I was exploring the street where I used to live - the lad who owns the car is sound too - so no worries there.
