I recently fitted fibreglass sportspack replica arches to my mini and i used the mini spares template but it was awful. The first and last hole lined up on the template but the other ones were a mile off. What i did was to use the first hole and last hole of the template to find the position of the the arch on the body and i drilled them.I then got a marker and marked out the rest of the holes. However, i did this with the bumper off because i never thought of the bumper and when i went to put the bumper back on, the arch was too far forward and i had to cut about ten mm off the ends of the bumper to get it on.Your best bet is to print the template off the mini spares site and put it on the car and if the fit is poor forget about the template and line up the arch yourself and drill the holes. if you keep it close to the bumper, all you have to line up is the side repeater on the wing and sill/step joint. Regarding cutting the wing, i didnt bother with the template and decided to cut the max amount off. I measured down about 20mm from the centre of each hole i drilled, i then joined these new dots with a line that matched the curve of the wheel arch and then i cut along this line. I then measured up 10mm and drew another curve and by making a series of cuts, i was able to bend a lip to add strength to the wing again so in the end i finished up with a 10mm lip and about 10mm between the arch holes and the new lip. Im not sure about painting rubber. Hope this helps.
