I went on holiday and the mini has been standing for 3 weeks ( on a hill on the handbrake and left in 1st), when I came back obviously it needed a battery charge but I also cannot depress the clutch pedal.

does anyone think the fact that I had left it in gear could have caused this? or the fact it been sitting on a slope?

What would be your thoughts?

(over the weekend I am going to check the clutch fluid, havent had chance yet as havent had the light with the dark nights)

Easy one and very common!!

The clutch arm has siezed at its pivot point, give it a spray with some wd40. If you've got a pig pry bar.crowbar use that to work the lever loose.

(just in case you don't know the lever I mean is the arm that the slave cylinder pushes on)

Chock the wheels and take out of gear, start the car and allow the engine to fully warm up, the thermal transfer through the metal should help un-seize with lots of wd40 or other penetrating fluid
