My MIni is black and has no rubber trim on any of the rain gutters, the seam or doors edges. It does have some around the Bonnet and boot. I assume that keeps the rattling to a minimum. Should I go all out and cover all the edges with rubber edging? If so, should I go black or the garish fake plastic chrome...it's cheap and was a suggestion.

i would leave the trim off the roof gutter as it collects water and rusts your mini

you will need rubber around the doors and boot lid to stop the car leaking

the vertical seams have a metal cover thats body painted

the sill/wheel arch trim is optional black or chrome or leave it off

You can't legally leave off the sill trim as it leaves a sharp edge which Plod is likely to notice.

All models that I have ever seen had sill seam covers from new. It was a legal requirement. People have been prosecuted for removing them. Sharp edged bodywork has been illegal for a long time.

Perhaps you could tell us which specific models apparently did not have them from new?
