I have recently had my mini resprayed, but it needs compounding. I was going to compound it with G3 but i was told that it contains ammonia which will fade the paint. will it be better if i used G6 instead or will this fade the paint as well? I dont want to use a rough compounding paste either only a light one as all the paint needs is a good buffing up.

I will be using a brushing mop and i know that i will need to keep spraying with water and not let the compound go dry otherwise it will burn.

Thanks

Josh

I'd try the g6 first. G3 could be a bit harsh. Also once you've finished make sure you wash all the compound off and polish it with some good quality polish then give it a coat of good quality wax to seal it.

Do you have the g3 or g5 yet? Get 3m fast cut if you dont.

3G is best on market. After a car has come out the spray booth we flat it back with 2000 grit wet n dry and buff it up with 3G.

Try Scholl Concepts S17+. I used G3 on Erm and at first thought it was ok but then got recommended the Scholl product and its much much better.

This is the finish i have got on Erm after flatting back with 2000 wet and dry and then using S17.

Still got to redo the doors and the bonnet after the paint shop used G3 and you do notice the difference.

I can only presume swirl marks and the like?

That car is certainly something and is a credit to you and your lad!

I found with the G3 it dulled the paintwork slightly but when i used the S17+ the shine was there straight away and only needed a quick buff over with Perfect III and that was it. No swirl marks at all.

The paintshop had used G3 on some of the panels when they put plastic sheeting over the panel and left marks DOH!!! however they were removed easily with the G3 but i now have to go over them with the S17+ to bring up the shine. But before that they will be colour sanded to knock off any high spots and some very minor orange peel.
