Just looking for some input, currently I am building 3 engined swap cars, 85 Mini with 3 clyinder g10 engine, 61 Morris with a V6 camaro engine, and lastly my personal car. I also built a B18c1 Integra GSR powered Mini last year. So with that being said, I got my hands full, and while I was getting ready to build my car up with a G10 Auto Turbo, it's not in the cards this year, or for a long time there after.
So my question is, my 82 Mini has maybe 35k miles on it. It is a 998 Auto with no park feature, it shifts smoothly for an auto, and the engine is in good shape. The power ain't bad, but the biggest gripe I have with it is the gearing. While it accelarates decently, highway driving leaves a lot to be desired.
So I like oddball setups, and here is what I was thinking...
-Specialist Components 5 port EFI Kit (My biggest concern is figuring out how to fabricate something for the kickdown, I'd hate to blow the money only to have it not work)
-12G940 head or stage 3 head
-1.3 roller rockers
Call it a day? My only concern is the gearing will stick be crap, probably will accelerate decent, but have no top end. Can you swap out gears from a 1275 auto unit? And to be honest, the whole reason I am thinking going this route is just to have a little more fun with it, somewhat simple bolton's in a weekend or two, and have fun with efi mapping, etc. If I want to have a fast car I can just hop into the Morris. Anyway, thoughts? Am I completely bonkers. Any other suggestions/ideas? Obviously the easiest would be to just leave it alone and enjoy...
