Just curious. Minisport seem to be selling Mokes and have many spare parts, ibcluding front subframe at £97.52 and rear at £90.68.

They seem to be specifically for the Moke, but as far as I am aware the original Mokes used standard Mini subframes, so I was wondering if these could be used in standard Minis? If so it could save lots of people on this forum some serious cash. Or are they poor quality?

Come to think of it, a new galvanised Moke at £5,452.63 less engine & gearbox seems to be quite interesting.

Front frame:

Made of slightly thicker gauge steel Measuring .090
Subframes have mounts for front bumper, Early ones have mounts on top, later ones have them underneath
Holes for the sumpguard with captive nuts

Rear Frame:

Strengthening plates

All of the above is assuming they make them to OEM specs.
Don't know if i would like one, as heaver and wouldn't think they are heritage.

For all Minis, non-genuine rear sub-frames are OK if you are able to carry out the suspenson setting yourself. if not, getting the suspension right can cost more than the price difference between gen & non-gen.
Those Moke ones look like a really good deal.

Front sub-frames normally last a lifetime due to the amount of oil which gets on them and the fact that they are well over-engineered.
They usually only need replacing when damaged in an accident.
I would always go for the best quality front frame I could afford as it carries the suspension and engine. I've no experience with pattern front frames so can't criticise them. They may well be fine. Again, if you have adjustable suspension and the ability to measure and set it yourself there should be no real issues with a pattern ones.
We are lucky with our Minis compared to other classic cars like Ford Anglias & Cortinas, Hillman Imps, Sunbeam Rapiers, etc, that we can still get genuine panels and parts. The Mini, Sprite & MGB ae all supported by a great parts infra-structure.,

I think these frames, like the Mokes themselves, are being made in some unusual place. Fiji comes to mind. That may explain the price, but until someone here buys one we might not know about the quality.

But I wonder about the Moke. It would seem to be legally a kit, as you have to find an engine and transmission, but it could be complete for under £6k with a decent second hand power plant. But how do you get it on the road? I have little doubt that it would need a BIVA, which it would fail. Edge radii etc, for starters. But re-shelling an old rusty Moke would be ok.

I asked the original question, not because I want a subframe right now, but because it seemed too good to be true. Still does, somehow....
