Hi all,
I have a '98 Rover MPI 1275 and would like to stick a new air filter on it...
Does anyone have experience with either the K&N or piper cross Multiple point injection filters and which one would you recommend?
Thanks in advance :)

They'll probably be almost exactly the same, except for the way they look.

You will get no noticeable difference in performance, but they may sound a little different depending on the design.

The K&N on a MPi does give it a very nice sound on acceleration and overrun.

I'd recommend the K+N as an insert to the original filter housing instead of the cone n' pipes. After a whle the pipes just cheese you off when you want to do anything in the engine bay.

No difference in performance? :o I thought that was what air filters are all about :/

Definitely noisier than having the air filter housing. I'd take an easy to maintain engine bay over noise - get enough coming out the exhaust nowadays.

Thanks for the advice :) and is it true I won't see an improvement in performance?

You don't have to have those extra pipes though, they do little to get cold air to the filter.

I had a cone filter, same as the above but without the pipes, and had no problems.

I believe he means between the two. Will be better performance than standard

I actually meant between a "performance" air filter and a standard one. The power increase is very little really.

You'll only really notice a slight power increase if you put the car on a rolling road.

Still worth getting one thought, just for the sound it makes!

Yes, but you won't be able to change the fuelling at all as the ECU cannot be altered.

no one was talking about fuelling, only power gains with a different filter.
