Right then folks, got a week off as of saturday so need to get my arse into gear and start welding.

I'm almost at the stage where the new arch can be welded back in but before I make a start would it be worth tubing? I'm going to be running on 10 x 6 mamba's, not gonna be slammed as lack of drop curb at my house and a bodged drop curb at my parents prevents this.

I know how im going to tub them, just wanted to see if anyone else thinks it's worth while since im working in that area anyway. Most people I have spoken to say do it but just wanted to make sure before I go ahead.

Tah very much,

- Rich

You're not really going to do any harm by tubbing it now.

It shall be done. Hopefully ill be able to clamp the panel to the car, mark everything up and then tub the arch panel away from the car to make life easier.

Anyone recommend some good thin cutting discs, mine wear out far too quickly!

Smith & Arrow are my brand of choice for thin cutting discs, I've used their 1.1MM x 115MM disc for 8 months and they wear really well. DeWALY are pretty good as well but I only get them when my local builders merchants has them on special

I use the Erbauer SS cutting discs 5pk from Screwfix or from Toolstation the Rhodius SS discs 10pk. Both work out about the same for 10 of them.

I use these and find they wear well, it all depends on how hard you use them though.

Well not managed to get this started as more rust was found. But anyway, like I previously said I'm going to try and add the new metal to the arch away from the car but where to cut?

Ill only tack it together to begin with while I'm making sure all fits well then I can do the same for the other side.

Many thanks again,

- Rich

P.s posting this via my phone so unsure if pic will show.

If you are tubbing then line two. Give yourself a bit of excess then joggle it for when you add the extra metal to make up the tub.

I cut at line 2 and joggled the new tub so the stepped edge was on top and flush underneath.
