Basically im looking soon to upgrade the beast a bit.
im planning on getting a bigger engine (i currently have a 998 completely standard mayfair)
im looking for some help, i was wondering if you guys could list the engines i could convert to and the cost/price of it. also im only interested in the engines i dont have to modify the sub frame or much really.
im aware of the 1.4k vauxhall and micra but dont really know anything about them.
thanks

1275 standard (standard subframe)
1275 fast road (standard subframe)
998/1275 turbo (standard subframe) ( if you dont wish to cut holes out of the bulkhead , then custom manifold is needed )
then other engine's require subframe mods , or custom subframes to be built

Would need work similar to 'fast road' to take the turbo - cant just bolt a turbo on a standard really.turbo in my standard 998?? never heard of that
As for your cost question - depends what power you want? 80hp? 100? 150? 200?
And how reliable you want the power to be

998 turbos are becoming more popular due to the increase cost of 1275 engines . if you do think about the turbo route , have a look on the turbomini's forum and look through some build threads
could change the head on the 998 and then bolt a turbo on , as long as the engine is strong start off with (http://www.turbo-mini.com/62147.html)

£350 manifolds
£100 turbo carb and plenum
£125 plus probs for a head
then cost of pipe work , electric fuel pump , e.t.c . im thinking about this option , but my engine needs a full rebuild and a possible overbore , so would need new pistons to

But anyways, Yamaha R1 conversion. Promotive or Lynx (any others, maybe?) make the kit to fit it. It's built into a cradle that fits into a standard subframe. 150+ hp, 6 speed sequential gear box, but the setup is pretty costly - £3500 ish, not including the engine itself..
