Hi guys, I'm planning on putting a carbon fibre flip front on my Mini but have it to flip backwards towards the screen using BMW 3 series boot hinges with an elongated section to increase its attachment area on the flip front.
Does anyone know what I could bond the hinges to the flip front with?
I've read that something like Loctite Hysol 9497 would be good but not sure as it's just a resin, could i use a fibre glass sort of matting with it to strengthen it or could I use fibre glass maybe?
Any info would be useful!
Thanks

Thats a good point actually, although I've just had a look and it's pretty expensive for a kit
For example: http://www.carbonolo...-fix-p-242.html
I know there's a lot in it which I guess is why it's so expensive!

just weld long metal braces to the hinges and then epoxi them on to the flip front then lay layers of regular fiberglass over it? should be strong enough

you need to spread the attatchment area of the hinge to bonnet.
I'm not familuar with how big the contact area is on the bmw but it needs to be bigger. While its up, the first gust of wind will crack what ever you bond it with

if the link works it should take you to my build to a pic of the bolts lined up ready for glassing then the next one is of them glassed in if it helps at all?
