Hi,

When I built my engine, I followed the build guide in Mini Magazine that Keith Calver wrote. I think it was written in 2004 around the june issue I think, but im not sure im afraid.

I found it veryuseful. I also used the haynes manual (mini one and metro one) and Vizards book.

Maby someone knows when the dates of the articles are?

Hope that helps

Adam

Chris
The best way i can think of is get a hold of an old engine, look in the yellow paper or stick an ad in it free..
get your hands on an old one, you will probably find some one has one they will give you for very little money or free and strip it down...

and then see if you can stick it back together

if nothing it will be a valuable experience and you will undoubtedly do things that in hindsight you should have not, or should/could have done better..

IMO these are a waste of money..... i did an engine rebuild last year and looked at getting one of these, including postage they wanted 15 quid and it is a real basic 4 page leaflet. you will be better off getting a haynes manual.....the older the better, the current one doesn't cover gear box rebuilds, but the older ones do

There's a new dvd out by Minifilms showing how to build an A series engine.

Minifilms

It has a free 7 minute clip

The Vizard book 'How to tune BL's A series engine' is also a must!

Deffo get a copy of Vizards bible! I have owned Minis for like 13 years in total now and I have only just got a copy (my GF bought it for me from Bingley Hall for £2). :w00t:

I have hardly put it down since I got it, it goes into alot of detail aswell as some good basic terminology too, there's alot to learn from there. Another VERY good source of info is the TMF CD. Also, you can get the Haynes Book Of Lies (HBOL for short) it does go into a bit of detail, with some reasonable exploded diagrams
