guys im daenesh from malaysia and i drive a 1978 mini clubman and normally when i drive with the windows open or closed there is a strong exhaust smell coming in the car.. and it gets stronger if i rev harder.. do any of you guys have any idea on my problem?

I would check all of the exhaust joints, mainly where the downpipe joins with the manifold.
Check with your hand for any exhaust leaks.

when its idling not much air is coming out from the exhaust..

What bungle means is that if you block the pipe at the back the engine should start to stall. If there are considerable leaks the gasses can't escape, the revs will drop and the engine eventually stop.

If there are leaks the above won't happen. If you are smelling fumes it is most likely at the exhaust manifold or the downpipe join as gases will leak into the engine bag, through the air vents and dash and into the cockpit.

You'll find the leak pretty quickly - note some times cracks can appear on the underside of the manifold so can't be seen by visual inspection.
