As per the title, has anyone here done it? Where did you go and what did you do?

Normally I study English Literature at Aberystwyth University, but right now I'm on a semester long exchange programme at the University of Georgia in the US.

So far I love it here, though adjusting to the scale of everything here will take a while. The campus itself is pretty much the size of Aberystwyth, and the college football stadium is the size of Wembley!

I'm having some serious Mini withdrawal symptoms, so TMF is keeping me going! But if it gets too bad, much to my delight I've discovered I'm only 30 or so miles away from these guys!!!! http://superfastminis.com/ :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: I'm definitely gonna take a trip up there at some point, I'd be stupid not to.

There's my boy!

So yeah, have any of you guys on here ever done anything like this before? If so, it'd be interesting to hear your tales :-)

I've not done it personally, but a friend did a 6 month work exchange program. He went over to Australia and someone from the Aussie forces came over to Germany. They both had a great time, although the Aussie did leave in disgrace after punching one of the lads after a practical joke

Another mate did the same thing, but straight after 6 months in Afghanistan, needless to say his girlfriend was somewhat less than impressed, but working for 6 months in Australia was a once in a lifetime opportunity so off he went.

I think things like this are great. It gives you a lot of experience and you get to see America. Having spent 3 years in Germany, my advice would be to see as much of the country while you are there as you possibly can. America has a lot of great places to go and some awesome cities. I know you'll have a lot of work on most of the time, but there must be plenty of time for fun as well.

The Americans love their college football, its really good that it is so popular and gets so much coverage. We don't really have anything comparable over here. Personally though, I would much prefer to get involved in Baseball. Are you able to join any of the sports teams while you are there?

Anyway, have fun and go visit the Mini guys.

Unfortunately, the football season has finished, as it runs in the Autumn term, But the basketball is fun to watch, And I'm looking at joining a team, just not sure which one. Might see if I can show them how to play proper football :whistling:

Any beer pong?
