Morning
I've had my mpi garaged for the past 3 months without a battery in and now I've reconnected the battery the alarm is behaving strangely. I resynced the alarm by pressing the disalarm button 4 times and she fired up straight away. Every time since when I go to start her, pressing the disalarm button once has no effect. Pressing it again causes the light to flash rappidly in double flashes. So it's 'flash-flash', pause, 'flash-flash', pause, for about 10 seconds then the light goes off and the system is disabled. When I come to realarm the car, pressing the alarm button once doesn't do anything, pressing it again makes the light flash in the usual way and it all seems fine.
Anybody got any ideas about this? It's not mentioned in the handbook as far as I could see. The car is a 96 mpi by the way, so one if the first.
Cheers!

Hey
The glovebox handbook for my 96 mpi states you press the arm button four times to resync the fob, rather than the disarm.
Edit: I've just had another look, and found some conflicting info between the book and the card:

Apologies if you've tried both already, but it could be worth trying the opposite.

sounds like its doing normal activities
mine does exactly the same way. I have swaped to a different system as i have changed a few bits but kept the same alarm/immobiliser system and its just the same
So the 2 work exactly the same

I haven't tried the resync using the lock button so i'll give that a go next time i get it out of the lock-up
It's odd that's only just started happening. This the 4th MPi I've owned over 10 years or so, and it's the first time it's ever happened.
It kinda reminds me of my brothers toad system where the LED flashes differently to report on different parts of the system. If a switch has been closed or something isn't working properly. I don't know how clever these last Rover alarms were. Do they do anything like that? Sort of status report? Or would it be because one of the switches isn't working so it can't fully secure the car?
Cheers
