Hello guys I have just changed the loom on my mini, its for a 1275 cooper engine, I have wired it up how it was before but it will not fire up the engine, can someone please help me by send me a picture of a wired up coil and starter motor for a 1275 cooper.

Hello is the starter motor verto or pre verto is the coil ballast or non ballast you can google it and compare the pictures of the two and compare them to whats on your mini i may be able to help you.

im not to sure about any of them sorry, I had it running before i changed the loom i just need to re wire the starter motor and coil

does the engine turn over on the key ??
what colour wires have you got coming out of the loom near the coil ??

no it doesn't even tick over for some reason, i have a red wire coming from the fuse box, white and black cable, white and yellow cable, white and green cable, black cable and also a purple and black cable

not to sure the mini is 1977, but newer 1275 cooper engine

Is the loom for a 77 ??
Does the starter have the solenoid attached or is the solenoid seperate

attached and i think its for an 88

OK
you should have the main battery cable going direct to the threaded terminal on the starter solenoid. On the same terminal should be all the brown wires.
88 should be ballasted, so you should be looking for a white/yellow wire, this connects to the bottom spade terminal on the solenoid.
The top terminal should have a brown/red wire going to it.
Right coil should be positive terminal white/yellow and white/pink (these 2 normally joined with one spade connector), negative terminal should be a black/white
down by the dizzy should be another black/white wire this plugs into the wire coming out of the dizzy.
I also suspect you should have a starter relay , is it there, should be a relay with 4 wires, black, brown/red , brown, white/red (I think)
