Hi,
Quick one - If I get some 4.5j reverse rims to fit my Yokohama A032R tyres, will they fit under the standard mini body work sufficiently to pass an MOT, I understand the rule about tread not being visible when viewed from above. But if anyone knows it will save save me forking out on a set of reverse rims/wheel arches unnecessarily?????? :D

Do you have disks or drums, with drums, yes, with disks no.... however I believe that wheels sticking out is not an MOT failure, unless it's been added in the latest 'upgrade' to the MOT test, but it is against the road traffic construction and use act, therefore, subject to prosecution.

Best option if running disks, is go buy some cooper S rims which are now available from most suppliers, which have the correct offset to keep the wheel under the arch.

Are you asking about Cooper S rims or reverse rims? They are not the same thing.

I took it to mean the 4.5" wide Cooper 'S' reverse rims. They won't go on without arch extensions, though I have used them as spares without arches being fitted. OK in an emergency, but not really for full-time use.
As already said, they are fine with drum brakes or 998 Cooper 7" discs.

SO would these ones go with my tyres (165/10) without arches?

OR would these work?
http://minispares.co...id=38514&title=

Not too fussed either way except I want to powder coat them black so buying without coating would be cheaper and less wasteful.

This is the look I'm going for, but I want to fit 7.5" cooper s discs?

With these tyres:

And hopefully no arches

i reckon you are going to need the standard 4.5 cooper s rim from minispares

the reverse rim will stick out a bit

You will need Cooper S rims, as those in the minispares link, reverse rims have an extra inch offset, so will stick out an inch.

I have not had an MOT problem or with the law in the 5+years mine have been fitted.Mine has deluxe seam trim fitted.

If I chavved it round Mcdonalds or they were looking for something then it would be marginal perhaps?

Ok, and don't worry, I won't be chavving my mini around anywhere, especially Mcdonalds. Maybe Subway though....

So I am looking for the cooper S steel wheels, which I presume the difference is that the centre 'hub' piece with the holes around the edge is recessed less than on the special tuning 'Reverse Rims' which are presumably designed to effectively widen the track by an inch either side, and also persuade mini owners of the day to buy a set of arches to make them road legal aswell? Clever BMC and their accessories.

Or is this the correct offset and width for no arches, but isn't this too narrow for my 165/10 tyres? Sorry lost again

Reverse rims were originally designed to be run on drums.
The S wheels would not fit on drums due to the offset

You need the MiniSpares '' rims, not the reverse rims.
Then you'll be able to run without arch extensions.
Here is a shot of my 'S' and my Innocenti both with 4.5" wheels which have the same offset as those 'S' rims from Mini Spares with 165/70 x 10 tyres. You'll see that no arch extensions are needed.
