Hello not sure if its the correct name im using , i purchased the 4 body Seam moulding ( non genuine ) for 1980 gt had them painted.
I put 5 clips on each side Seam for the moulding to grab hold of, but only 1 seem to fit tight and flush all the other are not fitting flush, if i get the top of the moulding lined up the bottom will pop out !

is there a fix/guide on how to bend the metal or how i can get them flush and fixed correctly ?

i had the same problem a while ago, try fitting them from the bottom as they tend to stay on a tad better and a few extra clips cant hurt

I had to bend and reshape the ones we bought for Project Erm before i had them painted. Try using more clips to see if this helps if not then some subtle reshaping maybe needed.

I never did find an easy way of getting these to fit. Sonikk4 is correct, you may have to reshape them. As a last resort, you may have to cut at least part way with a hacksaw, bend, and weld the cut together, as they are very stiff in the in/out direction.

What amazes me is that the genuine parts were mis-shapen in the 1960s, and the parts we buy have are exactly the same problem. How did the factory get them to fit?

had the same problem during my restoration. the clips didnt seem strong enough and after a few days the trims started to pop off. my solution was to clean the seams, primer and spray the seams the final colour of the mini. a couple of well positioned spot welds (top + bottom) held the trim in place. i big gamble but once the rest of the car was sprayed you cant see the welds.
