For just under £20 you can upgrade your A127 alternator from 45A or 55A to a 75A version. LINK

All you do is replace the regulator, all the internals are the same for the 45, 55 & 70amp versions the only difference is the regulator. (info straight from Lucas technicians in Denmark)

What's the benefit?

Increased availability of power for your electrics - quicker recharging of the battery i believe.

How do i know if i have an A127 alternator is my question :)?

are you sure that they are all the same internals? wouldn't that mean that there was some kind of current limiting in the regulator? otherwise what's to stop a high load on a 45a alternator drawing 70 amps and blowing the regulator?

I spoke to the technician directly in Denmark where Lucas UK now get there alternators & I specifically asked about the stator, rotor & the windings, twice, he confirmed to me that there is no difference & by changing the regulator from the 55A version to the 75A version there wouldn't be any problems as they're the same.
By having 75A available instead of 55A you put less strain on the electrical system. Ever noticed the lights get dimmer when you have the radio, heater & rear demister etc on at the same time? Thats the alternator trying to keep up.
Check this site for some info & pics on which you have.

Here is an A127 from the back

Don't forget to upgrade the cable from the alternator to solenoid if you want to get more power or it might melt.

Here is a good guide on replacing the regulator as well. LINKY

Is this the same thing (but only 70A) and around half the price?

The amount of voltage put in to the regulator will determine the strength of the magnetic field between the Rotor and Stator. The amperage going into the regulator determines the voltage which is what basically determines what your output will be. By changing the regulator you can change your output. However the stator may not be able to handle the stonger magnetic field created, which can cause over heating/ melting or fluctuations in amperage output which can damage electronics. The more wraps in a stator the more amperage it can handle/output without burning up. That's why many people have their Altinator rewraped when uping the Amperage.

anyone????? :-)

And Tesco have value car mats

http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=257124293

at £1 they're just no excuse for muddy carpets!

They've got value sets of 4 carpet type mats for under £10 too, but you might have to go to a bigger store for them to have them.

Not sure about that one as I can't see any rating for it, besides £20 for a heavy duty one for an extra 30A isn't bad anyway!

Only the injection models do have it fitted. If yours a carb model, you have to add it 'aftermarket'.
Really worth it.

I have fitted the fuel filter just after the tank, under the boot floor. Its the same filter i've posted above.
