Ive brought a push button start for my 86 mayfair and cant get it to work.
My Mini has got an electric starter on it that i recently fitted.
This is where the problems begin. I dont have a clue what goes where and could really do with a hand.

Ive got one of these (:
Do NOT wire it straight to the battery, the original one mine came with was and the switch melted and stuck on and fried my solenoid. make sure you put a fuse in there somewhere.

take an ignition live to the switch and and from the switch to the starter relay which is on the left of the engine bay, usually mounted to the inner wing support.
you can either join it to the white and red wire (key and button) or just disconnect that and have it on the button only.
Fuses, grommits, good connections and tidy placement of wiring apply

from the ignition/starter switch, ther is one wire which runs from the 'start' position on the switch to the starter solenoid.
Take that wire off the ign/starter switch and put it on one side of the new starter button. Then run a live, ignition switched feed to the other side of the new botton and the job's done.
