Hi There,

I've got a second-hand assembly of MiniSport 1:5 roller rockers and a new-oldstock Richard Longman GT6 head from 1999. I've cleaned both parts up lately and when I place the rockers on the head looslely (as seen on the pic) they don't seem to line up at all! There's not enough 'play' in the shaft assembly either to get them lined up. Will this be pulled straight once assembled with bolts and the lot, or do I have an odd head or rocker setup?

High resolution picture (slow load!)

Any comments appriciated.

It kind of looks like the rockers are not in the correct place. The middle ones look to be for the outside and the other way around.

That's not such bad thought. I've found a picture on the MiniSport website:

This clearly shows the 'thicker' part next to the roller is the other way around.
I'll fiddle with it some more I guess. Odd though, since this is how I had it in the mail, I only took it apart and cleaned it 1 by 1; surely didn't mix up anything there so it must have been like that :o

You won't gain much by fitting those rockers. When I fitted them I gained all of 2 bhp at over 5700 rpm and, I believe, I lost some low-end tractability. That's with a 286 cam and a very good head running 11.1:1 CR. For what they cost they don't seem to give much improvement. Maybe OK for racing where you might lop a fraction of a second off a lap time.

I've read up on the rockers before, I'm not trying to be rude, but I didn't ask for advice weather to mount them or not and what or what wouldn't be the benefit.

Excuse me for the double post, I can't seem to edit my previous one.

Rearranging the rockers solved the problem, they do line up just fine now! Thanks everyone and especially ArneBrys :)
