Hello,

I'm after fitting braided fuel hoses throughout my mini besides the main copper pipe. I've already done the rear of mini and am just querying the front really.

I have an electric fuel pump to the rear of mini and am just wondering which sizes hoses are required to the front and where now baring this in mind and also the fact I have an HIF44 carb fitted.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

SU's take 1/4" (6mm) hose. You could use an inline filter as an adapter, if you need to step down from larger bores.

Thanks for the reply Ethel but I mean the lengths required.

I work it out (roughly) to be;

T-piece in boot to King filter in boot - 5" length
King Filter to Pump under Subframe - 12" length
Pump under Subframe to Main Feed - 7.5" length
Main Feed to Carb - 12" length

Is there any other lengths I need to account for? I get the feeling I'm missing one at least as theres to two pipe connectors on the carb?

Cheers
Chris

if you are running it inside the car make sure its the teflon type and not the rubber type, the smell of the petrol comes through the rubber type, it cannot cause fires and is no reason for concern, just smells a bit petrol-ey!

was told this by people that do airoquip and braided lines etc at autosport, so i guess its true!

If you have an electronic fuel pump is it a facet type(a little square one )or a cylindrical type (interuptor).
If it is one of these and you have an SU HIF44 then i would fit an adjustable fuel regulator just before the carb and set it at 2.5 / 3.0 psi as the SU does not need alot of pressure.
This may not be the case with your setup but i have done the above and it works very well,as for the fuel hose use the braided teflon and in one piece if your,e running it inside the car.

One of the connectors on the carb is a breather

Thanks mingy, I'll get them ordered tomorrow then. Was a tad confused when looking at them trying to think back when it was all connected up haha.

Yeah, no worries, read that the other day, but I'm not running mine inside the mini althought it may be one to consider later down the line possibly.

Yeah it is a Facet fuel pump (little square one), why put a fuel regulator on it? Won't cause pressure between the section of pipe? I'm not clued up on this so any advice would be much appreciated.

The reason i suggested an adjustable fuel regulator is that the pressure the facet pump produces is greater than the needs of the float chamber on the carb,if a constantly high pressure is exerted on the float over time which can (only if a strong pump is used:ie, facet etc) damage the float mechanism. causing a higher level of fuel in the float chamber, then you would find fuel exiting out of the pipe that you wondered about previously. If you are still curious go onto the SU Burlen website where you will find all the technical stuff and if you want ,speak to them as they are very helpful.
