So.

After replacing front end panels and respraying myself with rattle cans the front end is ever so slightly different colour to the back.. Made noticeable by a change of colour/fade on the doors.. plus the spray job on the doors is naff because it kept running.. heh... but it still loooks good... just not perfect and sorry im not shelling hundreds on a new paint job right now..

Does get on my nerves a bit, but hey ho..

So im thinking I could make it look a lot better by masking the colour fade with a couple of big white number squares on the doors and give it a bit more of a rally look..

Would it look good on my car or would it be lame? opinions please

I was thinking more square although that does look good.. something a bit more like this.

why professionally? Im pretty handy and its only stick on vinyl.. its 7 quid a roll and youll get enough to try it like 6 times.. over... could it damage the paint when you pull it off?

1964 historic rally Cooper 'S'. The squares are painted on in Olde English White to match the roof.

In my opinion the door number squares work, but the white arches don't. If you want the rally look, then I reckon you should fit group 2 arches with chrome edging strips instead. (as below)

Yer...I like it..

I will get the vinyl and give it a go. If it goes wrong ill just peel it off. heh.. Thanks for the photoshop pic.. I think ill get some spare arches then spray them and have both black and white. so I can choose which looks best...

That sounds like a fair price these days for a Mk.1 fully prepared rally car. I wouldn't sell mine for that - in fact I wouldn't sell it at all!

Heres mine with custom made squares from vinyl, if you go for the ones like coopermans the square would be too big and go into the door handle as they are lower on mk3 onward minis. Depends on the size you want, but in the link you posted it would fit no problem.

Evan.

314FXH took part in The Cotswold Mini Classic Tour last year and was voted Best Mini. It is a truly FABULOUS Mini, it has everything. It looks good, goes good and sounds good. It's the real thing, people were in awe of it. Pictures at www.minifixers.co.uk .

OK I can't resist a plug - we will be doing another Cotswold Tour on 29 July. More info soon on the website -

Not a square, but slowly getting there with the overall rally look.. I think they work, but not on their own, some other racing/sponser decals are needed

Firstly - If you're going to be doing much more painting, I'd recommend getting a compressor and spray gun. We're using a compressor from Aldi, I think it was about £75 and even when the deal was on, they were selling for £150 on ebay. They're by no means the best compressor on the market, but they do the job of painting and it can be used for other stuff too. You will save lots on paint too, rattle cans are expensive, so you'll claw back money that way.

Anyway, onto your main question. I think the number squares really suit your mini, they complement the other white parts which already give it a slightly race/rally type look. I'd say no to white arches though, it looks a bit overkill if you ask me.
