cans aint too hard but its never going to look as good as when its done by pros. i have did my roof it matte black with cans and it does not look too bad, sanded primed and than sprayed. think it cost about £20 tops so you could prob do a car for £50-£60. But its never going to look the best.

Have a look at this thread, you can get some pretty amazing results via roller painting, that's certainly what I'd do if I were to re-paint my car one day:

Depends how picky you are, ive painted my whole car matt black with cans and it looks good but I have spent a long time looking round it in differant lights looking for inperfections marking them and redoing them.
It will never be perfect, but for a budget job not bad.
I spent about 60 for primer and paint for my whole car but I need some more lol. Got my paint in a big batch to make it cheaper.
Hope this helps

I would say roller and days of elbow grease or buy yourself a 3hp, 50ltr compressor, do the job then sell the compressor for not far from the price you paid for it on ebay!

It depends whether you regard paint as something to make your Mini look pretty or, as I do, protection from the elements.
IMHO a very shiny finish looks artificial, you can't beat a cellulose finish, thinly sprayed. Some two pack finishes look troweled on to me. I remember talking to someone at a show who had sprayed his Mini with Hammerite and it looked really good - if different..
I understand 'Rustoleum' do a good paint for rollering.

This job cost me £90 as we already had a compressor and gun. We made a "booth" from wood and poly sheet and did this in a Single garage! (We are novices) :

Your blue mini looks very nice ;) i dont really want to paint it matte colours as it doesnt appeal to me and i cannot spray it as i do not have the money or a garage im working outside against the elements. can anyone suggest a good paint which can be rollered, household paint, car paint? or types like gloss or enamel?
