a panel!

hi my a panel needs replacing, how difficult is this to do yourself?

You need to be able to weld, but it's not that difficult to do. The hard bit is doing it so that it requires as little filler as possible once done. Folding over the lip takes a bit of patience, but as long as you are careful then it should look fine....

Remove the seem strip (goes over the join between A panel and wing)
Remove door, 4 nuts inside the wing.

Grind of the old A panel, there are a couple of welds holding it on there is. tack weld at the top and bottom, and a few spot welds on the seem that joins the wing

Fit the new one and tack back into place.

Replace door.

A good idea to mark round the hinges really accurately
so when you come to re-hang the door you have a good guide.

Misaligned door will nit close properly and could leak.

If you cut a large portion of the A panel away first it will be easier to see the hinges etc..

It is more a figity job than a difficult one as re-aligning the door properly takes a bit of time
