Thanks to mininuts :proud: who gave me heads up about a Grand Prix press release on ebay, I'm now the geeky proud owner of it

Great to read but the bit that interested me most was it says:-

''The Grand Prix will be displayed on the John Cooper stand in the Rover Village at the Silverstone Mini birthday party on Sunday 28th August, along with John Coopers first ever car (Cooper No. 1), Jackie Stewart's world championship formula III Cooper BMC, plus another special Mini Cooper S''

Does anyone have any pics or did they go?....probably one to ask mab01uk

Love to see some :D

I'm sure I remember reading about it and I remember wanting to go. I didn't make it though >_<

At the time, I had just got my first Mini running properly, but I hadn't passed my test and my Dad wouldn't drive it that far. I was on L-plates at the time and offered to drive all the way there on A-roads, but it was considered a no-go.

As you rightly guessed I was there  and do remember spending quite a bit of time looking at the Grand Prix Mini on the John Cooper Stand! May have some photos and brochures somewhere..........

Meanwhile some of this on the GP may be of interest but you have probably seen most of it before.

Thanks mab!

I've looked at that Grand Prix site before but its very out of date now. I contacted the gentleman that runs it, hes hoping to update the site, but if not I may offer to get involved with it...seems a shame not to have it in use

If you do have any pictures of that stand or brochures I'd gladly pay for some copies :proud:
