Hi guys just a quick question.
I have a 1993 Sprite which has the washer bottle located in the boot?
Is this original and is there any reason why its better in the boot?
Apart from it never warms up in the freezing cold!
Thanks.

Injection cars have it in the boot as the ECU is fitted where it used to be!

Yes, all Minis from 1993 on, following the introduction of the SPi Cooper, had their washer bottle mounted in the boot. This includes Carb 1275 Sprites and Mayfairs.
If you are worried about it freezing up then just add some more winter washer fluid instead of water.

That should read 1992 onwards, not 1993.

I'm thinking about relocating my washer bottle into the boot, however am worried about chance of leakage onto the battery? Or are they mounted right inside the wheel arch? Anybody got any pictures to hand?

They are mounted just behind the righthand rear light cluster.

I have found that the washer bottle shouldent leak into the battery.
It would run down the side of the battery 1st.

I've got a May 92 registered 998 and mines in the boot, my mate has a Jan 92 registered 998 and its in the engine bay, would seem most minis of this era are a bit mix and match :P

Changeover was August 1992 i believe (when all cars went to 1275 engines, and the Sprite replaced the city model)
