Hi Guys,

I have just brought my first Mini, Im now the proud owner of a 1996 Rover Mini Sidewalk 44,000 and i paid £1250 which i think is a good deal as she's in fairly good condition.

Had the joy of driving her for 4 hours solid from Middlesborough to Surrey yesterday so much fun ;-D However today the ball joint gave way :-( still thats life i guess, Anyways i love my new Mini however being a complete Mini Noob have a few questions:

- My Mini came with key fob for the immobiliser, It has two buttons on it, i haven't been able to figure out what the second button does, when i push it the LED on the dash goes crazy and i some how trigger the alarm. Any Ideas?

- The Mini came with a number of keys one for the doors and bonnet, one for the Petrol cap and one for the ignition. What i was wondering was does anyone know if you can purchase a petrol cap with the same locking barrel as the doors?

- I plan on installing an Amp to power two speaker and also would like to install 4 spot lights on the front of the grill, Can someone tell me will i require an uprated battery and/or an alternator.

- In regards to the spot lights, can someone tell me are these lights used as your high beams, main beams or as fog lights?

- Im not a huge fan of the interior and will at some point replace it for something a little more to my taste, Could anyone tell how much i might be able to sell a complete sidewalk interior for (Door Cards, Steering wheel, Seats, Boot lining, seat belts etc).

Any help would be great guys.

Thanks

Hi..and welcome to TMF and enjoy your Sidewalk................as for locking caps you won't find a modern cap ..........FS keyed caps are very rare 60s early 70s when they first had them as an optional extra................... :proud:

nice side walk looks clean if interior is imaculate you could post it on here or ebay for couple hundred quid someone may be interested if restoring a sidewalk but like you say its not a nice colour to work with i work on a few sidewalks and the owners tend to hide the interior by tinting the windows

Sidewalk interiors are awesome :D Smart looking Mini you have there.

With regard to your alarm question, my ex had an aftermarket alarm in her car, one button did both arm and disarm, the other was a panic button or something, it set the alarm off when you pressed it. Could be something like that.

Welcome to TMF =)
Sidewalk interiors are lush, wanted myself but sticking with my Stitch! But good prices especially if in good condition! Lovely blue paintwork too.
