Hi all! I'm having problems with my maniflow lcb manifold to y piece that is brand new; it blows and I can't seem to sort it :-(

It didnt do it at first, but it undone the clamps to rotate them to a better position, which is when I noticed the leak.

Firstly I tried tightening up the clamps some more, no luck. Then I used a good amount of firegum exhaust joint paste, no luck. Then I bought some heavier duty clamps at bingley, no luck (but better) I then tightened up these clamps more and snapped the bolt.

I can't think of how to sort it other than an even bigger stronger clamp that won't snap the bolt!

Any advise on position of clamp and what else I can do?! I'm at my wits ends now and its so frustrating!

are the cuts in the y piece fully closed on 2 the manifold have you tried cutting another 2 slits in it for it to clam tighter?

Sure it's pushed on far enough - are the slots covered? Don't use ghastly 'exhaust paste' - it's for bodge repairs only........

I've definitely pushed it on enough as my first thought was this so I made sure it was fully home.

As for the slits, there are two per tube iirc, I could cut a couple more if there's nothing else to try!

That paste was a last resort type idea as I couldn't get any clamps at the time, it's horrible and dries very ugly but I thought it was worth a shot!

I have cut extra slots in the past where the fit was slightly loose. Are the clamps flat bar 'wrap-around' style?

The originals were but I bought mikalor style clamps, but the bolt that clamps is only M6 and so snapped when I really tightened it!

Mikalor are useless for this job - use the proper wrap round flat steel type.

My best guess would also be to make sure the y-piece is really pushed/hammered up snug. The clamps only hold the exhaust bits in place, they're not supposed to be sealing the bits by themselves.

my solution to the same problem was too smear some paste into the y piece (cold pipes) then position all the componets add a couple of well placed welds on the lcb to y. job sorted. never had a problem in the last year.
