im undecided if i like the look of a smoothed over rear end, i had an image in my mind of what my rebuild would look like when finish and now ive seen one aready done i dont think i like it... the plan was deseamed and debumped with a smooth boot lid.

Heres a pic of one done and im now in to minds about it

You got any pics of the back of yours, is it deseamed? I think i do want to deseam mine but its one of those things once done there is no way to go back so a little nervous bout doing it :s

I like the smooth boot but where is your number plate gonna go? I was thinking of internal boot hinges and either internal latch or something small in top corners to make it really smooth, i would have that bumper off tho ;)

um yer... they do look different deseamed the sides look ok but once you have done it there is no going back but it dosnt look right smoothing the rear valence in my opinion

I think de-seaming the rear is alright, but a smooth boot lid doesnt cut it for me.

I have smoothed the rear on mine but as above, I'm not a fan of the smooth boot lid. I always think the way you have to mount the number plate elswhere spoils the overall effect.

At least the boot lid is easy to swap if you change your mind.

But hey, it's a mini and whilst differing opinions are good, if it works for you............................

I can abide de-bumpered Minis but smooth boots just take it to far for me. I think it just makes them look unfinished.

i like it but would prefer the mk1 boot lid with the recess in now as i dont think the number plate looks right now i have moved my new exhaust through the valance. as said its just a personnel taste thing. the boot sits flush now by the way and them massive pipes have gone also lol

Never twigged before that the earlier boot lids have a different recess for the number plate. The earlier type as above looks better IMO.

Anyone any alternatives / ideas for the number plate light in this type of modification. My led type ones are not great and would love some tiny carbon pods or something to house the lights.

You can get a number plate that is back lite so no need to have the light housings.

ive seen steves mini a few times on here and do love it, i think im gonna aim for something like supermans, i love the deseamed look and just think as people have said before the hole thing is a bit to much, it needs something at the back to give it a bit of a feature... so for now until i change my mind... again lol... deseamed, debumpered, delocked and a mk1 boot... gonna have to look into the lit number plates to keep the back just that little bit cleaner look :)
