i think the cd125s are the right size for the 998 google it should come up with a graph etc,

two carbs with the same size bore as a single will give improved low torque and will also not effect overall performance

2 should equal the same size as one

Run away from them NOW - they are a nightmare. Just use a single large SU..........

my next door nieghbough has a Jag E type and he had never ending trouble with his Stomberg carbs, he switched to SU carbs, He blew up his exhaust with the Strombergs. Like BMC says, run away, stick to SU's

You said they were Stromberg CD carbs. Do you mean CD... or CD-2? BIG difference.

The CD-2 carbs are the later type (post 1968?). The needles adjust from above instead of making jet adjustments from below. The CD-2 carbs are the ones that have and probably deserve a bad reputation.

The earlier "Stromberg CD" series are really pretty good. The original CD series are like a cross between SU-HS and HIF carbs. The Stromberg CD has an integral float bowl like the SU-HIF. However, the CD has a jet that adjusts from below like the SU-HS. In summary... the original Stromberg CD has a lot going for it. It is unfortunate that when most people say "Stromberg CD" they really mean "Stromberg CD-2"

In any case - on a dead standard 998 Mini, fitting twin small carbs will not make any power gain over the larger single carb fitted on the car right now........

Indeed - go the standard route of a so called 'stage one' kit. And look for a better cylinder head at a good price.
