As per title I'm doing an engine build and using a 12g202 and I have been offered a metro cam
What gains are they and would I be better with a Kent 266

is it a standard metro cam?.......if so then i dont think that it will make any difference, are you having any work done to the 202 head as that wont make much difference either if its un modified.

I haven't done any modifications yet to the head
Don't reay know we're to start and don't have the budget to take it to an engeneering place to have work done

you need to check with someone like bmcecosse or cooperman from here because i'm sure that you will need to have the head skimmed to use it on the 998, i'm not totally sure about it but its worth asking.

Skim it 60 thou and just tidy up around the valves - a 'metro' cam is no better - you need an MG Metro cam - or that 266.

skimming depends on your pistons aswell, dished/flat top/D pistons all mean differernt CR

I've now been offered a 1100 engine
And will make that my project engine
At then moment the 202 head has not had much work done to it so may go up for sale soon
Depending on condition on the head on the engine

202 head is correct for a 1098 engine - so keep it!

I will see what the head is like that comes with the engine and will keep the best one and sell the other
Just need to find someone who knows how to properly modify a head as there's no point in tuning the engine and leaving the head standard
