They are quite big engines so I would guess it wouldn't fit under a standard front?
Wouldn't be much of an upgrade anyway and if you have a 1275 you will be going for a smaller engine size?

Isn't the 1.25 the yamaha designed engine that is related to the 1.7 in the puma ?
I always thought they were supposed to be a cracking engine that loves to rev. Not sure about sizes but i am led to belive the main problem with using ford is the gearbox size causing width issues.

Just googled it, its the Zetec SE. Ford used the zetec badge over various engines as they also did duratec.
The se is available in 1.25 1.4 1.6 and 1.7 L. Designed by Yamaha and Mazda.

The 1.7 is a brilliant engine, I drove a 2002 fiesta zetec s with a puma conversion for a while and it was a monster! I would love it if I could fit one in the mini but sadly not.

Had a few 1.25 fiestas and not been at all impressed, good for the budding chav to strap a bean can to but not great at actually moving the car along

there has been a zetec engine conversion in miniworld or mini mag end of last year in a round nose mini. had no inner arches and a flip front.

good engine, oil changes are required as they run fine tollerances, not so straight forward to swap. The diff housing is huge and needs to have a custom made subframe.
Its possible but not simple

It's certainly possible but for the time and money you'd spend on the conversion I think you'd be better sticking a decent cam and head on a 1275.
