I find it's the couriers who are the worst, being that they leave large parcels just sat in front of the door or on the grass.
At least our postie will either go next door or hide the parcel with a note through the door. It's like a little treasure hunt.

I'd rather it went to the depot than left outside for anybody to pilfer, as much as a pain in the ass to get it from the depot can be at least I will get it.

The post office round me isn't too bad, 10 min drive and they do say you can ask for another delivery time if you want instead.
What annoys me is that I had 3 deliveries in one day last week from the royal mail, one at 10:30. one about 2 and one about 4:30 when I just got home. So I missed the early two but got the last one but logic would have said to deliver them all at once maybe?
But as long as I get the package I'm not going to complain about it

I challenged him about it and his reply was "you don't expect me to carry everyones bloody parcels around do you?"
I said "yes mate your the postman!"
He said, "you just need to make a complaint at the depot about it"
I said "cool whats your name?"
He said "Pat"
I said "as in postman Pat"
He said "thats it"
It was so funny i left it at that and didn't complain, he wasn't in the job long!

I have agreements with some courier companies that they can leave my parcels in the shed etc, but Royal Mail don’t do this. Dan’s suggestion of a parcel safe is good and sensible, but it does annoy me that I need to spend a not inconsiderable amount when a little common sense (or as Victor would tell me ‘breaking the rules’), could avoid it.

Until this time last year, I had the best Postman anyone could wish for. He was my postman for about 10 years. He signed everything for me and put it through the door and left parcels in my shed or garage and then a note through the door telling me where it they were. He even gave me his mobile number as one day I was desperate for a letter and he told me to call him at 8.00am in the morning and he would be able to tell me if he had it for me and I could meet him on his route to collect it. He thought I was mildly mad as when I was on holiday I would send our Minis a postcard and I thought he was mad as he was loved by Italy, was obsessed with Italian politics and sung opera while doing his round! One day he collapsed on his round and it was subsequently discovered that he had a brain tumour and he died five months later. His replacement sticks to the letter of Royal Mail Law so consequently, I have wasted countless hours and diesel retrieving my parcels, recorded letters etc from the depot. While I do get on with my new postman, Victor (he’s far too serious to even think of abbreviating it to Vic!), this arrangement isn’t really satisfactory for either of us. He tells me he feels really guilty when he has to card me (and I can see he really does) as he knows the inconvenience it causes, but he is just not the type of person to break or bend any rule or law, even in the smallest way.

I have 3 mates that work for the Royal mail. It is being run into the ground so a buyer can be found.
One of my mates has worked there for over 20 years. Doing sorting or picking up from firms. If he is doing the pick up job then as soon as he has finished his route unloaded he can go home. Often working just 6 hours a day getting paid for 8. That is his job assigned to him. Any another firm will find some work for you to do until you have done your contracted hours.
Another mate delivers post, so no he can't carry 30 odd boxes on his 5 hour round, so the easy thing to do is to let the customer know it is ready for collecting. He once had to deliver BNP leaflets on a South East London housing estate.
None of my mates have ever stolen anything from the post. ( there was a thread about this)

The only saving grace is that I usually just don't include Mr. Both my sisters have the same initials as me so they could go and pick it up, although one has got married so I can't get her to anymore.
Lots of places won't deliver to a BFPO either which is frustrating. It costs exactly the same but the postcode bit screws it up.

I had one on Tuesday that said they have tried to deliver it twice and no one was in so I had to go collect it. I ordered my ht leads Friday, they were dispatched Monday so there is no way that they have tried to deliver it twice with no one in. Also two of my house mate's were in all day, one whose bedroom is right next to the front room.
I caught one delivery driver posting a note through my door and he didn't even have the package in hand. I asked him to get it from the van to which his reply was he couldn't as he didn't have it with him. He opened the doors to show there was nothing but small letters in the back.
