i need to replace the flywheel housing on my 1275 pre verto engine. is it ok for me to use the old one from my verto 998? the 998 housing used studs only to mount it to the block and gear box whilst the orignal one on the 1275 used studs and bolts. shud i jus use studs or a mixture of both?
thanks

Use whatever fits! Normally, studs would remain screwed into the block, and probably have UNC threads on their inner end, UNF on the nut end, whereas bolts may be UNF, or in some cases, UNC. Go gently with them at first, to ensure that they really do fit, without stripping threads.

ive done the studs n they r all UNC threads n they fit fine. the problem is that when i try n put the 998 housing on it it seams to be catching on the oil pump were as the 1275 housing didnt.

Compare them side by side to see why that could be - may be just needing a slight 'adjustment'... You will need to drill out the hole in the 998 for the breather that was fitted to the 1275.
