hi everyone i started this build last year so i thought it would be about time i made a project thread, i origionally started with a 1275 '1992' sprite that someone had crashed so it needed a new front end so got all the body work done got it all painted up got the old 1275 back in and the around christmas time i accidentally baught a nissan micra engine and thought why not got to start somewhere so this is my first ever project i am only 17 solet me know what you think or if you have any advice









this engine is now for sale if anyone is interested i live in oxford

so i started on the subframe not to sure where to start so i cut the back out for the gearbox and then started on one side


once got both sides done and space for the engine to sit in i started to think about the engine mounts


got some more strengthening to do on the next one




got the engine sitting in the subframe properly now

trialed it in the car nice snug fit all the way around


this is where i have gotten to so far since christmas its takeing its time but i want to get i right i have an awefully amount of strengthening to do once its out again but for now i have got a huge list of things to do

Good going, it took ages for me to work out what I wanted to do with my sub-frame.

A couple of points on the engine I found were really close were:

• Driver's side tie-rod / castor bar on the engine sump, so make sure these bars are in before finalizing the engine position.
• The starter solenoid?? (a bit hanging off the starter motor) on the bar running between the suspension towers, (I should have put it back further and not middle).
• The water pump (I can't see if yours is on your engine, if not I'd put it on)
• And of course the back of the diff to the steering rack, but with the engine in there you should have this one sorted.

Have you got the CG13DE (1.3) or the CG10DE (1.0) engine? Do you have the larger gearbox?
What are your plans for the inlet manifold? I don't see a bump taken out of the boxed section on the firewall so either that comes later or you are thinking something custom?

Hats off to you I couldn't imagine tackling an engine conversion when I was 17. and you're making great progress, well done!

thanks very much i love your name i might have to put a picture of myself up and show you my fuzzy hair, ;) yeah its a 1.3 16v so the larger gear box, i hate to say it but im borrowing rid's idea for the inlet manifold if i have the time and the money i would look around and maby try and design something but his idea i just spent 20 quid on aluminium tube, and weld it up.
as for bits hangin off the wheels are on so the tie arm fits but the castor bar i dont know if this is me being dippy or not but what is it, the water pump in on and i need to find a starter moter from somewhere hadnt thought about that thanks for putting that up i appreciate the advice

Dex, for starter motor, is look at a Suzuki swift one or something from one of the tiny jap motors :) ate u going to tell these lovey people what u have planned for the future ;)

Swift yeah thats not a bad idea i have already got one can try it on tonight see if it fits and yeah thanks for that nick
the origional plan was to put a turbo on as i have all the kit to do it but after some long hard thinking and not allot of time till my current car insurance runs out that idea had to be put on hold untill i can find another way to get about maby a motorbike so i have all the kit to do it turbo intercooler 1.6 fuel pump 1.6 injectors and ecu anf all the other stuff so thats a thing for the summer probally just want to get it on the road for now and wait for my insurance to drop.

when positioning the metering head on manifold make sure you check clearance for injector wiring. It's very close to injector number 3.

anyone else got one of these on the road? if so, whats the general opinion on performance, drivability and general feel of this motor in a mini.

They are the same bit, just I've heard them called Castor bars as well because tightening or loosening adjustable versions will effect your castor (the angle forward+ or back- that a line through the ball joints would make).
I wasn't sure what the common name was....

I'm fuzzier than usual at the moment as I currently have a beard to match the rest of it.... I had a comment that I looked like Hagrid
