I have this tach: http://www.mcgillmot...d&productId=761

Wired up to the white/black wire from the coil and it acts really strangely, it's really laggy and inaccurate. I emailed them and they replied around 10 mins later with this:

im afraid minis always create problems with our rev counter. It is mentioned in our gauge descriptions so if it was missed form your description then my apologies for that. Even without wasted spark etc, minis still cause slight compatibility issues that we cannot resolve.

Anybody know why this might be? I quite like the tach and would like to get it working if possible.

Anyone? It's really intriguing me what's different about the Mini ignition system that would make a tach play up.

I thought that too. I found the warning on another listing: http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_1596wt_1032

Suitable for 4, 6 or 8 Cylinders, but will not work on Minis, Land Rovers or any British Leyland vehicles or diesel Transit vans !!

Ideal for coil ignition systems, ECU's, W Terminal Alternator feeds or Crane/MSD Electronic Ignition systems.

It will not work on multi coil ignition systems

I might try running a new feed to the coil, worth a try anyway

This is strange, the advert contradicts itself, it says it won't work with minis, but says its ideal for ignition coil systems and ECU's which your car has, very weird.

Yeah I'd try running a new feed, I'll have a look where the feed come from the Tacho on mine to see if its the same, as mine is a standard fit.
