Hi guys, we just finished to reassemble the entire Mini and today we went out to a parking place to do our first testings. We were taking everything very easy (sub 5000rpm) until we thought the clutch was slipping as the car was not moving while the engine was revving.

We found out it was not the clutch but the diff which was failing to move the car. We stopped, loaded the car back on the trailer and here is a video of it back at uni.

Could anyone give us any advice on what is going on with it?

As you can see the right driveshaft is not moving with the diff (only very little).

Thanks for your help in advance ;)

I have no experience with Hayabusa diifs but the Drive shafts dont appear to be fully into the diff - just a guess though.

My guess it that one or more of the diff gears has broken, you may be able to see it if you remove a drive shaft and look down the hole, to replace the gear you are going to have to remove the welded on covers that encapsulate the diff.

I agree with Cptkirk that the drive shafts dont look to be fully home, but thats how mine look ;)

It may not look like it´s fully in but we checked that the first time we build the car an it has been working in that position since we started as we´ve seen on older photos. Nevertheless we will check both suggestions and let you know!

Thanks you guys, always a pleasure to read your opinions ;)

the driveshaft looks like it has popped out, it can sometimes happen if the shaft is too short (trailing arm too far outward) either that the circlip isnt holding the shaft in. i would measure the splined part of the shaft to make sure its engaged into the diff, otherwise there is a fault with the diff.

Having looked at some photos, including some of my own ;) i would have to agree that it looks as if the driveshaft has popped out :(

Ok we can confirm that the driveshaft were correctly inserted into the diff and that the coupling didn´t had any damage on their profiles. Although when we opened the diff we found a masive play on the inside. What could have happened? Would you guys open it by cutting the welded plates?

Any advice would be more than welcome. It´s our first time we have to handle with a diff.

Thanks in advance,
