Right when we went to see our latest purchase (MGC roadster) being built from the guy we bought it off, me and dad noticed an odd MGB roadster sat in the corner of his workshop, after considering whether to buy it he has now decided to buy it for me and we will build it back to a full race car for me and him to race. It is suspected to be the 1 of the 3 MGB's Ray Dilley built. 1 is in a museum in the states and 1 owned over here somewhere and the third was lost back in the early 80's. The car has Fibreglass front wings with the E type Jag lights which was only done with Rays MGB's also it has a SC gearbox and a few little things he also did to his cars so it is sounding likely to be the missing car (Hopefully) :highfive:
anyway here's the pile of scrap we bought lol

well its been a long while! nearly a year, we stripped it back to a rolling shell then left it at our local mg resto place for storage till we could bother to do, rang up there this morning to ask when they will be able to fit it into their schedule. .....

turns out they have pretty much finished all the welding lol. we figured that the only parts we could save from the shell is the lower rear bulkhead, tunnel and front bulkhead.. they must have been busy bee's

pics should be following soon,

Those wings were sold by a company that did loads of fibreglass panels for pretty much every car you can think of. I can't recall their name off the top of my head but they advertised in every CCC in the 70 s and 80s. Always a long list of cars and panels in print so small you can barely read. I had a pair come with my MGB GT but I never fitted them. They made about £70 on eBay when I sold them. MGBs are brilliant cars and one of the true bargains around at the moment. I keep saying it can't last, but its been the same for years. I think the Mini and MGB Gt are the best fun per pound cars money can buy. Racing one would be a whole other level of fun on top.

Had a quick look and the first CCC I came across was from 72, the ad had the name DJ sports cars and advertised fibreglass sills as well as other wonders of the 70s. Not sure if they became smith and deakin? Or quite possible a few were at it? I only remember them from CCC but I guess they must have advertised in most the motoring mags of the time.
