I don't have a head unit installed and I just want to plug my ipod in. I'm not bothered about a CD player or radio I was thinking of one of those motorbike amps and a couple of speakers in the air vent holes. Has anyone done this and if so, how effective is it?

Edit : Forgot to mention, It's obviously had a head unit at some point as there's an aerial connector under the dash. Next to it theres a green wire not attached to anything, I'm assuming it was the power for the unit. If it is could I use it for the amp and earth it to the bulkhead behind the dash somewhere?

I had a cheap one of these, yes it will work and wiring them in is a simple 12v. But don't buy the cheap ones as the sound was absolutely shocking. Only used it for a couple of months before giving up..

I had the same sort of Idea as you and bought a cheap amp from china off ebay and the second I powered it up it blew up because a capasitor was soldered in backwards, even after replacing it it never worked, so yeah as said, i wouldnt bother with the cheap stuff!

I ended up mounting a CD/Radio to the left of the blower and use my ipod plugged into the back of it. It's a really old radio that i found in the garage but I have made a wire with an in-line audio amplifier ciruit in it so that I pre amp my signal before it gets to my radio. Sounds pretty good for a bodge to be honest!
