Am saving up for a red retrim of my 94 Spi seats. It will cost me £450 upwards compared to pre 92 seats

However, I've seen these on ebay and am thinking of getting 2 of them as they are very cheap

Application here : they look MASSIVE on the dune buggy though (dimensions on the original listing)

the only details I can see are on the links above (price, subframe etc). I have some Cobra subframes lying around at home too.

hmmmm.

I had them, in black fabric, in my first Mini. They were promptly dropped in favour of some retrofitted spi seats!

They are big. I seem to remember I couldn't have door pockets, and using the handbrake was awkward. I'll see if I can find a photo of them fitted.

I had a look around and the only photo I can find that sort of shows the seats was from the outside. They go almost up to the roof, and the fat bits at the top almost touched the rear quarter windows.

I had them for a couple of weeks then swapped them for some SPi seats I bought off here. SPi seats are probably my favourite practical Mini ones. They are big and safe® like the late ones, but have big side bolsters that hug you.

I had always intended to have my SPi seats retrimmed in red leather, but I ended up buying another Mini before I did it. If you still want access to the car as intended, and comfort, I'd stick with what you have.

You could just buy some red SPI seats? im pretty sure they did them. £450 might even get you the whole shebang, seats (front and rear) as well as door cards and carpets, if you scout about!

Paying £450 for two seats its frankly ridiculous, for that price you might as well go to a rolls royce breakers and get some seats from there! (its certainly what i'd be doing if i thought it was acceptable to spend that much on two seats)

it was £450 for the front seats and back, perhaps I should have made that clearer !

To retrim the seats in red fabric, other uplhosterers wanted £400 for pre 92 seats. When I told them I had SPi seats it went up to £700 !
£450 was the cheapest for both front and back.

Was going to buy some cobra classics with headrests in red nylon but they were £197 each ! Ouch. Searching on the forum, they have some bad feedback too.

So struggling to get anywhere lower than £450 really (except the really poor bucket seats off ebay)

Also tried to get second hand car seats in red fabric but can't get a reasonable price nor condition for them neither

Like i say, some MPI's did have red seats, just a case of looking, better waiting than paying that extortionate amount of money.

Was it the bucket seat style you liked? because you could go for a cobra classic seat if the one your looking at is to big. to be honest my monaco buckets are around the same size as the one your looking at and I didnt have any issues. expect my back seats are no longer accessible :whistling: but the ones in the link recline by the looks of it so it would would not be a problem. I like them mate. Tis alot of money though....

not really into buckets, but the cobra cobra classics in red nylon looked very nice, just that with red headrest they work out to £400 anyway
Red fabric is what I was looking for but can be pursuaded to go red leather

hmmm.

Also will start searching for pics of red MPi seats (very interesting!) now but seriously contemplating the ones I posted originally in light of above opinions.

My Spi is being picked up for restoration at the weekend too....

edit - I found some red Mpi leather seats but they wanted £700 ! Not sure if there are any non leather ones, but will keep looking
