Hi, sorry to ask what may seem a stupid question, but i have a set of 10" mamba's and i'm not sure where i measure to get the width of the wheel. Any help would be great thanks.

You can get it from the tyre usually.

They have no tyres on, although my car currently has 12" wheels which appear to be the same width and i'm not at home to check tyre size.

Mamba's are usually 10x6. Measure from edge to edge.

It's the distance between the inner edges of the rim, where the bead of the tyre wall would sit against. So basically it's the space that the tyre itself sits within on the wheel. It's a common misconception that rim width is actually the overall width of the wheel, when depending upon the style of the wheel this is usually at least half an inch bigger. This is why so many people measure standard Rover mini 12" wheels as 5", when in fact they are actually 4.5" rims.

The tyre gives you dimensions of the tyre, not the wheel itself. Tyres of a certain width can be fitted to a variety of different width wheels. Some tyres may display a maximum rim width or a specific rim width range, but this will not tell you which rim width that particular tyre has been fitted to. For instance the common 165/60/12 classic mini tyre is fitted to a variety of 12" wheels with rim widths between 4.5" - 5.5".
