Marleene (the mini) has been playing up for the last few day, thinking it was just rain, until today, she completely cut out and would go over 2000 revs in each gear, manged to get her home, mThis has happened before, twice, but not on scuch a varying scale my main thought was it was fuel, so checked the float chamber, seemed fine, bit of muck in the bottom, as well as in my recently installed in-line fuel filter, so thought maybe my jet was blocked, took the dashpot off, clean everything, which had some dirt in it, and put everything back, started her up after some encouragement from the choke, got going, but agian, the same problem.
so I decided to check my ignition, will having the engine running, i took the weather sheild, revs then suddenly dropped. It was the dizzy the whole time, the bottom clip on the dizzy cap had come loose (or i hadn't put it on right, schoolboy error) so got the grill off put some WD-40 in there to drive the mositure and water out, clipped it back on. started her up, already a vast improvement, a slight flat spot but expected as i had to drain the dsahpot of oil before i was allowed it in the house and im waiting on some engine oil for it tonight, however, on making sure the cap was on pushing the cap. I got electrocuted, which was, not very nice. turned her off, and the some how on push/pulling the cap slightly, a small gap appears below, hense how the spark jumped to the clip then into me. I can also hear, i thikn it sparking, so does that me its sohrting out?
Can anyone shed some light on this, and why i can hear it sparking? and why on earth a gap came be made when both clips are on :/
