Its how long is a piece of string, doubt theres any actually quantity..

I normally grease until I see grease coming out of the mating areas.

eg radius arm you will see grease at the pivot points.

balljoints you will see grease come out round the pivot pin.

My grease gun takes the tube cartridges they are about 400ml (13 - 14 oz) and it doesn't use that much.

just get a couple of cartridges if you worried you'll run out. Then your covered if it not enough. also then you wont have to worry about buying more next time you grease everything.

There not hugely expensive. I think a two pack on amazon was like £6-7

3 oz is about a quarter the size of the cartridges mine takes, so probably better off buying a couple of them.
One thing be carefull of is if the radius arms take more than 3 or 4 pumps then chances are plastic sleeve inside is split or missing, and you could then be filling the whole arm :)

If your car hasn't been greased like mine was when I got it i used a lot so best to buy a few spare cartridges and get in to the habit of greasing your nipples on a regular basis and by that point one squirt should suffice each time

If your grease gun can be filled from a tin, a tin of Castrol LM will last for ages, and not cost all that much. Probably enough for at least 10 greasings, plus the odd bit here and there for seat runners, hinges, pedal pivots etc, where sadly you can't use the gun.

If you want to be really fastidious, pump grease in till you see clean new yellow grease coming out, but that is actually overdoing it. Quite harmless, but wasteful. Most people just keep pumping till the escaping grease, which will be black because it contains tiny metal particles, is visibly seeping out from under the ball joint covers, or both ends of the radius arm and upper arm pivots. Grease guns vary, but that might typically be 10 strokes of the gun.

It is a very good idea to wipe off the mess afterwards! And it really is messy.....
