What size are mg valves

Can anyone tell me the dia off the valves i.e ex-inlet

All M.G heads have the 29.4 mm exhaust, but there are two different sizes of inlet: 35.7mm for the older leaded heads, and 33.3mm for the unleaded...

Thanks all i was going to fit a mg head to get a few more bhp .Does this work and what power gains could I get.

All M.G heads have the 29.4 mm exhaust, but there are two different sizes of inlet: 35.7mm for the older leaded heads, and 33.3mm for the unleaded...

Thanks for reminding me Dave, I've put that into the list now...

Thanks all i was going to fit a mg head to get a few more bhp .Does this work and what power gains could I get.


It will provide better breathing capabilities, but will not improve the performance much without and upgrade of the cam to the MG item along side.

What head have you got now as the castings are the same and if the MG head has the same size valves as your existing 1275 head then you wont get a great deal of gain...

I got the unleaded head 33mm inlet.To change the cam do i have to change the cam bearings because i dont want to strip the engine.I know it is bad practice to run old with new.

Cam bearings are *usually* ok - its the cam followers that must be changed though....
